French international real estate developer Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is using Uber to encourage more business at its shopping centers. Uber Vouchers is a program that allows businesses to foot the bill and create promotions for customers to come to a mall, restaurant, concert and other venues.
The vouchers can be specified for a certain number of guests, time and date for pick up, as well as a set promotion budget. The system is designed to help establishments encourage consumer engagement and participation by offering free transportation, particularly interesting for malls and similar brick-and-mortar outposts that are looking for creative ways to drive business.
So far, Westfield has used Uber Vouchers for some of its higher-end malls. Others to use the service include TGI Fridays, Live Nation, and the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. “Being able to surprise and delight our customers with a complimentary ride with Uber is a great way to build upon our broader national partnership and make it more convenient than ever to travel to and from our shopping centers,” said Lili Fakhari, senior regional marketing director at Westfield.
